SLOVENIA IN MOVE - WITH MOVEMENT TOWARDS HEALTH “HEALTHY CLUB”

In 1999 the Sport Union of Slovenia together with CINDI Slovenia introduced a joint label for a healthy way of movement "Slovenia in Movement - with Movement towards Health". This program is carried out by health and sport experts together. The purpose of this project is to encourage as many adults and elderly citizens of Slovenia as we can to engage in regular moderate physical activities. The main goal is to increase the number of Slovenes who exercise moderately half an hour a day by 10% in five years.

Since the Sport Union of Slovenia wishes to expand and complete the national project "Slovenia in Movement - with Movement towards Health", we have developed a quality label "HEALTHY CLUB" for health directed movement and for exercise offers by the SUS members. The introduction of this label will help realise our efforts to ensure and offer quality and health beneficial exercise programs in sport societies and to constantly improve these programs.

With the label "Healthy Club" the societies will be able to prove to the outer public that their offer of "healthy exercise programs" is of high quality. The label will enable the people who are interested in exercise to find an exercise program that suits them best.

In support of the "Healthy Club" we have designed an all-round image with accompanying products which will present a "Healthy Club" as a whole and help the society and its trainers to label their programs. In addition to that we have prepared education for coordinators of "Healthy Club" and for the trainers of recreational programs, who will assure the quality of individual exercise programs.

BASIC INFORMATION:
- "Healthy Club" is a label that can be obtained by a sport society which is a member of the Sport Union of Slovenia after fulfilling the conditions defined in the Regulations.

- The "HC" coordinator is someone who has completed professional training and obtained the title "coordinator" and is responsible for carrying out the Regulations in the sport society.

- A register of sport societies with the "HC" label is the central electronic database on sport societies with the status mentioned which is run by the Sport Union of Slovenia.

- The conditions are elements which the sport societies need to obey in order to reach the set goals. These conditions are defined in the Regulations.

- The criteria are rules that the societies have to meet if they wish to obtain the "HC" label, their intention is to give the societies some orientation when designing the offers and planning the future development and maintaining the quality of a "HC".

GOALS
Within the health concepts we need to set clear basic goals which we will strive to achieve and describe with which contents, activities and methods we can to achieve them. The importance of basic goals can vary depending on the type of offer.

Basic goal 1: Strengthening the physical sources of health
Basic goal 2: Strengthening the psycho-social sources of health
Basic goal 3: Reducing the number of risk factors
Basic goal 4: Dealing with complaints and problems connected with health
Basic goal 5: Getting the people used to health beneficial physical activity
Basic goal 6: Improving the motive abilities

CRITERIA
The purpose of the quality criteria listed below is to orient the societies when designing new offers as well as to further develop and maintain the quality of the existing exercise programs. Based on the quality criteria, the Sport Union of Slovenia has designed the quality label named "HEALTHY CLUB".

The societies that wish to obtain this label have to meet the following criteria:

1. Comprehensively set goals
2. Uniform organisation structure
3. Competent trainers
4. Preventive medical checkups
5. Constant quality control
6. The society's role as a partner in health strengthening
